Altitude: The coffee gardens are located at an elevation of 1400 to 1500 m above sea level.

Climate: Wet tropical

Soil Type: Andisol
Cultivars: Mandheling Typica, local varietals
Preparation & Drying Process: Wet-hulled at 18-20% moisture content (very low for Sumatra), patio dried.
Harvest & Exportation Time: Harvesting season, between September and June. Exporting time between October– July
Farm Size: 704 ha, average farm size per member is 1.79 ha.

Certifications: Fair-trade Certified

History of the Cooperative: Permata Gayo Cooperative was registered on the 15th of March 2006. The purpose of the cooperative is to improve the sale of organic coffee and pass the benefits to its members, all of which are very small-scale coffee farmers. The 394 members live in six villages in the Permata Sub-district of Bener Meriah District. The office is located in Bandar Sub-district, about 45 minutes drive from Takengon city.
